A bit of tender, juicy and flavorful Texas comes to downtown San Juan Bautista…it’s time for SJB’s Rib Cook-off and music festival. Seven teams from all over California, Oregon and Nevada will be competing for bragging rights and cash prizes for the best tasting BBQ ribs and sauce. Giant sized barbeques will line Third Street in downtown San Juan Bautista early Saturday morning, June 13th. These outdoor gourmet kitchens will be ready to serve up over 8,000 pounds of ribs. Cooking techniques vary from “slow and low” heat to unspoken old fashion cooking methods. Several of the contenders have won awards in other notable rib cook-offs, including Nugget’s “Best in The West” in Reno.

The public is encouraged to cast their vote on Saturday for their favorite rack of ribs. The “People’s Choice Award” will be announced Sunday afternoon on the main stage along with grand prize winners selected by the panel of judges.

Ribs are the main feature at this event; however the food doesn’t stop there. Traditional festival food and drink will be plentiful throughout the weekend. You can shop, browse and buy unique one-of-a-kind gift items too! Downtown will have over 200 arts ‘n’ craft booths. Eight Second Ride will perform the best in country music both days on main stage.

Bring your appetite and spend the day in San Juan Bautista. Once you’ve been there, you’ll want to come back again and again.
