Aid Little Caidyn Lee

Caidyn Lee will celebrate her third birthday in October. This happy two year old little girl has been diagnosed with Stage 3 Rhabdomyosarcoma cancer in her bladder. So far the cancer has remained localized in her bladder and has not spread.

In the meantime, Caidyn is undergoing two different types of chemotherapy and radiation. Her treatments are scheduled for six months, then the doctors will determine the next step.

Lee is currently receiving treatments at Children's Hospital Central California in Madera. Her parents, Chauncey Lee and Michelle Furnish, are getting lots of love and support from friends and family, and the Los Baños community. Even people they have never met are pulling together to help their neighbors and this little girl. They are starting with a drive-thru chicken dinner with plans to sell 1500 chicken dinners at the fairgrounds.

With all the care and appointements and doctor visits every day, both parents are having to miss a lot of work, which is a huge drain on their finances. This kind of community support is why so many of us chose to live in smaller communities.

Events In and Around Los Banos

August 7-8 - United Methodist Rummage Sale will be held in the church's Fellowship Hall. For more info or to donate items call Charlene at 209-826-4276 or Karen at 209-826-6803.

August 7 - 1st Annual Downtown Wine Stroll from 6 to 9pm. 8-12 wineries with music, art and appetizers. Tickets are limited and will run about $25.

August 10 - Los Banos High Annual Tiger Prowl. Seniors will attend Tiger Prowl on August 12 between 8am – 10am, freshmen between 10am – 3 pm, according to the first letter of their last name. Sophomores will take a hearing test when they attend Tiger Prowl on August 13 between 8am – 11am, and juniors will attend Tiger Prowl on August 13 between 12pm – 3pm, also all according to the first letter of their last name. LBHS dress code will be strictly enforced.

Students must bring their yellow emergency card, completed and signed by a parent/guardian, included in their Tiger Prowl packets to attend Tiger Prowl. The first day of school is Friday, August 21. It will be a regular school day, with first period beginning at 8:10am, and sixth period ending at 3:21pm.

August 27 - Caidyn Lee replacement blood drive will be held at Veteran's Memorial Hall at 615 E. Street from 3 – 7pm. For more info contact Debbie Furnish at 209-631-9498.

August 29 - Los Banos Marching Band and Color Guard 1st Annual Benefit Custom Car & Truck Show 8am - 5pm, Pacheco Park Hwy. 152 & 7th St. Los Banos. Free Admission for spectators. Open to all makes and models. DJ - Raffle -Vendor Booths - 50/50 Drawing. Gates Open at 8am Participant Judging Starts at 11am. Trophy presentation starts at 3:30pm. Proceeds benefit the Los Banos High School Marching Band and Color Guard. Day of event-$30 Vendor Booth Rental $75.
