Out & About Magazine is a family oriented magazine providing information needed to get the most out of your leisure time. More than just a magazine, we are your resource guide to the community. Look to us for information on where to shop, what to eat and what to do! With features about people and events in the surrounding communities, columns geared for this locale and an extensive calendar of events our readers keep us around all month. Your ad is in their homes and cars for a long time, not recycled tomorrow.

Our rates are more affordable and our ad space is significantly more effective than any other publication in our area.

Our mission is to keep the reader abreast of all the things going on within a 1-hour drive of their home. We get the “word of mouth” information to the community before it happens instead of after the fact. We concentrate on Morgan Hill, San Martin, Gilroy, Hollister, San Juan Bautista, Aromas, Salinas and Watsonville. We also inform about special events going on along the coast and South San Jose.

Distribution

We distribute 25,000 copies monthly, with the busiest locations being restocked throughout the month. They are left in over 700 locations, including train stations, barber shops, movie theaters, live performances, motels, restaurants, the outlets, retail stores, coffee shops, doctors’ & dentists’ offices etc. We pick up and recycle approximately 500 copies monthly. That means all the rest went home in the hands of potential customers!

Rates

Out & About Magazine advertising rates are fixed per-month rates. Price per month goes down if more months are purchased together. Rates are subject to change on a per month basis. Existing purchase rates are not affected by any new rate change for the following months. Please feel free to contact us for a current ad rate sheet. Advertising Deadlines

Ad Specifications & Requirements

Below are the specifications and requirements for each ad type found in Out and About Magazine. Please be sure that your ad meets these specifications before submitting it to our staff. Ads should be created using standard desktop publishing software, such as QuarkXPress, Adobe Photoshop or Illustrator. Ads created with other software (ie. Microsoft Publisher, Microsoft Word or Corel Draw) will not be accepted. You may submit these as PDF, TIFF, JPG or EPS images (check your software for export options). Ads created and submitted on other than the above mentioned programs or formats will not be accepted.

DISPLAY AD SIZES:
Final trim size: 8" x 10" • All Bleeds .25"

Accceptable File Formats:
- JPG or TIFF ads should be high resolution (300+ dpi), and saved in CMYK color mode (not RGB).
- PDF ads should be made with a high-resolution print setting, and have all fonts embedded.
- EPS ads should have all fonts converted to outlines, and any imported art embedded within the file.
- Ads created in QuarkXpress (version 6 or later), should be accompanied by all art and fonts used to create the ad (collect for output feature).

Submitting Artwork:
- Graphics (raster) used in the ad must be saved in it’s appropriate mode. Bitmap mode for line art (600+ dpi). CMYK color mode for color images/photos (not RGB). GRAYSCALE mode for black & white images/photos. Raster graphics should be saved in TIFF, JPG or EPS format only. Photo scans used in the ad should have a resolution of no less than 300 dpi and should be saved at the size used or slightly larger. All photos must be saved in CMYK color or GRAYSCALE mode, not RGB. Do not use an image that needs to be enlarged to greater than 125%.

Graphics (vector) used in the ad must have all fonts converted to outlines, and all imported art embedded within the file. Vector graphics should be saved in EPS format only.

Bleeds:
The dimensions listed in the rate card for ads that bleed off a page include an extra 1/4 inch for overlap. This overlap will be trimmed off at the press. Please keep within the actual image area and don’t put text in the trim area, unless you actually want the text to be cut off. If this is the case, please indicate so on your accompanying proof.

Submitting Ads through email, disk or CD:
Ads should be emailed to adsales@outandaboutmagazine.com or sent to us on disk or CD. All ads on disk must be accompanied by a printed hard copy.
